Hundreds of Pacific Rim Whale Festival participants laid down (on the beach!) to declare their love for whales and call for whale protection in a human aerial image directed by artist John Quigley on MacKenzie Beach - a traditional whaling beach - in Tofino, BC.

Orchestrated by Pacific Rim Whale Festival coordinator Marla Barker and directed under the guidance of professional producer, activist, and artist Spectral Q''s John Quigley, a large-scale image was created using people as the medium!

The Pacific Rim Whale Festival is proud to feature the work of local artists of all ages. Each year a new collection of button art is created, and a local artist is commissioned to produce the Official Poster Image.

Every March, spring splashes into Canada with the Pacific Rim Whale Festival!

Join the fun on the shores of Vancouver Island's wild west coast, as we celebrate the arrival of upwards of 20,000 grey whales on their northbound migration from the Baja Peninsula to Alaska's Bering Strait and beyond.

Come experience the wonders and charm of the 24th annual Pacific Rim Whale Festival, with an array of events taking place throughout the coastal towns of Tofino and Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

It's an all-out celebration of our coastal lives! It’s about grey whale and marine life education, inspirational talks and interpretive walks, children's fun for the small and culinary events for the tall, First Nations cultural workshops and more - come and experience a coastal tradition!
